Brecksville Police Blotter: A Loud Car, Missing Property and a Confused Driver

The following incidents were reported by the Brecksville Police Department on Aug. 9. The information was compiled by police reports.

Possession of paraphernalia

A loud car led to some more serious charges for a Stow man on Aug. 9. An officer pulled the 43-year-old over on state Route 82 at 11:44 p.m. and ran his license. The officer found out that the man’s license was suspended and asked him to step out of the car. When he did, the officer noticed that a bag the man had been wearing around his waist earlier was missing. The officer asked about it, and the man said it was on the back seat. He later said there was some marijuana and a pipe in the bag.

The man was charged with possession of paraphernalia, for driving with a suspended license, for having a loud exhaust and for driving an unsafe vehicle, because his windshield was cracked.

On Aug. 9, a Brecksville man reported that his binoculars were missing. The man told police that he had been watching the procession that day and left his binoculars on the ground. He forgot them when he walked back to his car, and when he returned a few minutes later, they were gone.

Driving under the influence

A 30-year-old Akron woman was charged with driving under the influence after an officer stopped her for speeding on Interstate 77 at 4:18 a.m. on Aug. 9. The woman told the officer that she was trying to get to a friend’s house, where she was dog sitting, but had gotten lost. After talking to her, the officer had her perform a few field sobriety tests, which she failed. She refused a breath test at the station and was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, for refusal and for speeding.
