Brecksville Police Blotter: Disorderly Conduct, Drug Trafficking and Driving Under the Influence

The following information was supplied by the Brecksville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported by the Brecksville Police Department between July 14 and July 16. The information was compiled by police reports.

Disorderly conduct at a wedding:

A 35-year-old Cleveland man was charged with disorderly conduct and intoxication on his wedding night at about 11:30 p.m. on July 16. Police reported to a call that said a man was fighting at the St. Joseph New Orleans Party Center. Things had calmed down by the time the police got there. Originally, police told the man in question that there would be no charges as long as he kept calm, but the man began getting belligerent when police asked for his date of birth. He was charged and taken to the station when he refused to state his birthday.

Drug trafficking, possession:

A 20-year-old North Canton man was charged with drug trafficking on July 16. Police stopped to see if a group of young adults needed help with their cars, which were parked in a driveway in the 10700 block of Chippewa Road. The driver, William L. Jose, of 19th Street NW in North Canton, said his car was broken down, and an officer smelled marijuana as he was helping them get the car back on the road. After a few questions, Jose told the police that he and another person had smoked marijuana earlier and that there was some in the back of the car.

Police found a gallon-sized plastic bag filled with two, smaller bags of marijuana. They also found two plastic containers of small paper envelopes in Jose’s pocket, which the officer believed to be heroin, and a small container with white pills on his keychain. Jose said he was supposed to drop the drugs off in Cleveland, but wouldn’t elaborate.

Jose was charged with trafficking in drugs, synthetic narcotics, and possession of heroin, opium or a derivative, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Driving under the influence:

Police received a call at about 2:30 a.m. on July 14 from a concerned driver on Interstate 77 northbound who suspected that there was an impaired driver on the road. The officer found the vehicle, followed by the driver who had made the call, and watched the driver swerve to the left over the dotted line and then almost hit the barrels on the right side of the road. After the driver, a 48-year-old North Royalton man, failed multiple field sobriety tests and a breath test, he was charged with driving under the influence, driving in marked lanes, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, based on blood alcohol concentration, and liquor possession in a vehicle.
