Brecksville Police Blotter: Driving Under the Influence and Theft

The following incidents were reported by the from Nov. 26 to Dec. 2. The information was compiled from police reports.
Driving under the influence
A Mentor on the Lake woman was pulled over and charged with driving under the influence after a fellow driver brought her car to the police’s attention at 7:08 p.m. on Dec. 2. An officer saw the 39-year-old woman swerve on state Route 82 and noticed that she was slumped down in her seat, as if she was looking for something. She told the officer she had been talking on the phone, rather than paying attention, after leaving work. She also didn’t seem to know what time it was, and she had two cigarettes lit.
The officer noticed the smell of alcohol and asked about it. The woman initially said she hadn’t been drinking, but later said she had. She failed to complete a few field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence, driving under suspension and with a marked lane violation.
Theft from a building
A Brecksville man called the police on Nov. 26 to report a theft from his father’s building in the 6800 block of West Snowville Road. The man and a friend had stopped by the building to store some items from a restaurant they are renovating when they noticed that the air conditioning units near one of the entrances was damaged. After looking around, the man realized that five of the 10 units were damaged. They were missing condenser units and copper piping.
