Brecksville Police Blotter: Driving Under the Influence, Property Damage and a Noise Complaint

Driving under the influence:
An officer pulled over a car on Fitzwater Road around 5:30 a.m. on Monday after the driver did not stop at a stop sign. The officer smelled alcohol and asked Ronald C. Honkonen, 59, of Brecksville, perform some field sobriety tests. Honkonen failed the tests and the officer found open alcohol bottles in the car. Honkonen was charged with driving under the influence, failing to stop and having liquor in his vehicle.

A neighbor called to report the music coming from a car parked in a Chaffee CourtΒ parking lot just before 1 am on May 1. Police found David P. Goodhart, 29, of Brecksville, was asleep in the car. He was charged with playing loud music and public intoxication/disorderly conduct.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on April 30, an officer saw a car speeding along Interstate 77 at more than 90 miles per hour. The officer tried to stop the car, which continued for about two and a half miles before stopping. Raymond R. Weahry, 27, of Monroe Falls, would not get on the ground when the officer asked him and the officer had to force him to the ground. Weahry refused medical treatment and refused to take a blood test. He was charged with driving under the influence, speeding, failing to comply with an officer and resisting an officer.
Failure to show license:
Brecksville police had a difficult time identifying a man that an officer pulled over at 10:50 p.m. on April 28. The officer pulled the driver over after seeing him make a left turn into the far lane on Miller Road. The driver gave his name as Henry Hernandez, but police were unable to find a license for him in Ohio, Florida or New Jersey, all places he or his girlfriend said he had lived. Hernandez, 38, of Cleveland, was charged with failure to display a license and his passenger, Dalonte X. Wright, 19, of Cleveland, was taken into custody for a Lake County warrant for his arrest. Β
Property damage:
Somebody broke a window at Chippewa Elementary School. When the officer arrived at 10:45 a.m. on April 26, several lacrosse balls were found near the damaged window.
