Brecksville Police Blotter: Hitchhiking Plans Averted and Property Damage

The following incidents were reported by the Brecksville Police Department on Aug. 11 through 13. The information was compiled by police reports.

Public intoxication

A 28-year-old Phoenix, Arizona man was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct shortly after midnight on Aug. 13. An officer noticed the man when a car made a sudden stop on Brecksville Road when it had the right of way. The officer saw a man standing in front of the car and went to talk to him after he walked across the road. The man told the officer that he planned to hitchhike to Illinois. He also told the officer he had been drinking and gave him a reusable bottle that he said was filled with wine. He also had liquor and wine in his backpack, along with a Halloween mask, clothes and other items.

Property damage

On Aug. 11, a Brecksville man reported that he had gotten a flat tire after driving through the Snowville Road construction earlier that day. He needed a police report to be reimbursed for the repair by the county. The man added that it was the third time his car had been damaged in that construction zone.
