Bad driving and marijuana don’t mix
An improper right turn onto Brecksville Road led to possession charges for a 22-year-old Warrensville Heights man at 9:48 p.m. on Oct. 17. The officer smelled marijuana while walking toward the car, and immediately asked what was in a plastic bag below the dashboard. The man handed it over, saying it was marijuana and that it was all he had on him. But that wasn’t quite true. The officer found two more bags of marijuana under the passenger seat and a digital scale in the car – and the man handed over another bag that had been in his pocket at the station. He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension and for the improper turn.

Littering leads to drug charges

The officer told the driver that she had not stayed entirely in her lane, and then had the driver and the passenger wait while looking for the litter. The officer found the plastic from a box of cigarettes, which matched a box in the passenger’s purse. The bigger problem was the marijuana residue in the 31-year-old Cleveland woman’s purse and the marijuana in a bag at her feet and in the glove box. She was charged with possession of marijuana. The driver, a 33-year-old Cleveland woman, just received a citation for the marked lanes violation.
