Brecksville Police Blotter: Mistakes Lead to Missing Property

The following information was supplied by the Brecksville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported by the from Dec. 16 to Dec. 24. The information was compiled from police reports.

Report of lost property, part 1
A Brecksville man reported his bank card missing on Dec. 24. The man had accidentally left his card in a drive-up ATM the day before. When he realized it was missing, he went online to check his balance and spotted two charges he had not made. He cancelled his card.

Report of lost property, part 2
An Elyria woman reported that her purse was missing on Dec. 24. She had placed it on the top of her car while showing a coworker a Christmas present, and forgot to take it off before leaving. Neither she nor an officer could find the purse along her route.

Menacing
A Brooklyn Heights man threatened staff at an adult care home on Dec. 16. The man demanded to be let in to the Chippewa Road establishment at 8 a.m., although visiting hours don’t begin until 12 p.m. The man’s wife is a resident there, but she was in the hospital at that time, which the man knew. He wanted to take her belongings, but staff members refused his request, saying his wife was under control of a legal guardian.
