Brecksville Police Blotter: Reports of Harassing Phone Calls and Drivers Caught Drinking Underage

The following incidents were reported by the from Sept. 23 to Oct 4. The information was compiled by police reports.

Unwanted calls lead to a report
A Brecksville resident reported harassing communication to the police on Oct. 4. The man told the police that he had received multiple, unwanted phone calls and text messages from an unknown number during the past two months, as well as a photograph. Police told the man to keep a log of the messages and calls and to contact them if it doesn’t stop.

Speeding leads to discovery of beer, marijuana
An officer pulled a car over on Interstate 77 at 9:40 p.m. on Sept. 30 for going nearly 20 miles per hour above the speed limit. The officer could see an open package of beer in the car, as well as loose marijuana on the passenger side. The driver, an 18-year-old Parma man, and the passenger, a minor, both at first said they hadn’t had anything to drink and that they didn’t have any marijuana on them. The driver later told officers that he had drank one beer and that he had some marijuana in his sock. Officers also found a partially burned marijuana cigarette in the car. He was charged with underage possession of alcohol, possession of marijuana and speeding.

A stop between work and home leads to underage drinking charges
A 19-year-old Twinsburg man was pulled over on Royalton Road at 12:42 a.m. on Sept. 23 after an officer noticed his car weaving across the road. The man said he was on his way home from work, but the officer noticed the smell of alcohol and the driver’s red eyes. He failed a few field sobriety tests and later gave a breath sample. At the station, the driver told the officer that he had drank at a friend’s house before heading home. He was charged with driving under the influence, with having a blood alcohol level above the legal limit, with underage consumption and with failure to control.
