Brecksville Police Blotter: Reports of Theft, Drug Possession

Speeding leads to drug charges
An officer pulled a car over for speeding and having a loud exhaust on state Route 82 at 9 p.m. on Nov. 4. Upon approaching the car, the officer immediately smelled marijuana. The driver, an 18-year-old Macedonia man, told the officer they had some in the center console. The officer found a pipe and a container with some marijuana in the console, and asked the passengers if they had any on them. One produced a small bag of marijuana and the other handed over three marijuana cigarettes. A fourth passenger didn’t have anything on him.

Police also found alcohol in the car—the passenger who had the bag of marijuana said it was his—and two other pipes. The driver said the pipes and everything in the console was his. The driver was charged with speeding, loud exhaust and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. The passenger with the cigarettes, an 18-year-old man from Northfield, was charged with possession of marijuana. The other passenger, an 18-year-old Macedonia man, was charged with possession of marijuana and underage possession of alcohol.

Theft from an air conditioning unit reported
A Brecksville resident reported the theft of an air conditioning coil from a vacant office space on Brecksville Road on Nov. 4. A tenant had noticed the condition of the air conditioning unit a couple of weeks earlier, but assumed it was being repaired. The estimated replacement cost is $1,800.
