Brecksville Police Blotter: Residents Report Numerous Thefts, Attempted Thefts from Cars

The following information was supplied by the Brecksville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported by the on Sept. 1 through Sept. 8. The information was compiled by police reports

  • On Sept. 8, a resident of the 6700 block of Mallard Drive stopped by the police station to drop off information about a theft from a vehicle in August. The resident’s daughter had parked the car in the driveway on Aug. 24, leaving it unlocked. On Aug. 26, the resident’s daughter noticed that money was missing from her purse—which had been left in the car—and that a USB charging cord was also missing. On Sept. 2, she noticed that her iPod, headphones and a case for her iPod were also missing from the car. She didn’t know if all the items went missing at the same time, but noted that after Aug. 26, the car was locked in the driveway.  
  • At 4:19 a.m. on Sept. 8, a resident in the 3500 block of Sweetwater Drive reported that a person was trying to break into her car, which was in the driveway. The person was using a pry bar to try to get into the driver’s door, which woke the resident up. While she was on the phone with the police, the person left. There were some scratches on the caller’s car, but nobody got in. 
  • On Sept. 1, a resident from the 5900 block of Fawn Lane reported that her iPod was missing from her car. She said she had left the car unlocked in her driveway the night before. The resident’s husband also noticed that his iPod was missing from his car, which had been left unlocked in the garage.
