Saying they smoked before driving doesn’t satisfy this officer
An officer pulled a car over on Interstate 77 shortly before 8 p.m. on Nov. 15 after noticing the car’s missing rear license plate light. The officer immediately smelled marijuana and asked the driver and passenger if there was any in the car. Both first denied it, but later assured the officer that they had smoked before getting in the car.
The officer thought the scent was too strong for that to be the case and continued to look. The officer found a small pipe painted to look like a cigarette in the front passenger seat. It still had marijuana residue inside. The passenger, a 20-year-old Garfield Heights woman, claimed the pipe and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver, a 21-year-old Warrensville Heights man, was cited for the license plate light violation.
