Brecksville Police Blotter: Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Gun and Police Learn About An Underage Party
The following information was supplied by the Brecksville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported by the on Sept. 10 and Sept. 11. The information was compiled by police reports.
Speeding leads to discovery of reportedly stolen weapon
An officer pulled a car over for speeding on Interstate 77 at 4:11 a.m. on Sept. 11. When the officer ran information on the three men in the car, it was learned that the driver, a 19-year-old Columbus man, had suspensions on his license. He was charged with driving under suspension and with speeding.
The officer then wanted to search the car; the driver gave his permission, but a passenger, Terry R. Arter, wouldn’t give over the keys so the police could search the locked glove compartment. Arter, 18 of Columbus, said the car belonged to his father. He eventually put the keys on the guardrail, and the officers opened the glove box. It held a gun with one round in the chamber, a gun that had been reported as stolen to the Columbus Police Department.
Both of the other men talked to the police. The driver said he didn’t know about the gun; the other passenger said he saw it earlier in the day. Arter said he knew nothing about it and that police searched the car without his permission. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and with receiving stolen property.
Underage party on Barr Road
Two young adults walking along Barr Road caught the attention of a police officer at 11:21 p.m. on Sept. 10. A young woman was holding what the officer thought to be a “Four Loko” alcoholic drink.
While talking to the two—a minor and an 18-year-old from Independence—dispatch received calls about an underage party happening at a vacant house on Barr Road. The 18-year-old told police that he and a friend had purchased some beer at a gas station in Cleveland, and then he drove about five to seven high school-age teens to a party on Barr Road. About 20 to 30 teens were drinking there, he said.
Officers later learned that underage parties were happening at two locations on Barr Road that night.
Both of the individuals were charged with underage possession of liquor, and the minor was also charged with open container in a public place.
