Brecksville Police Blotter: Traffic Stops Lead to Drug Charges

The following incidents were reported by the from Feb. 6 to Feb. 7. The information was compiled from police reports.

Traffic stop, part 1
Police pulled over a car with dark windows on Interstate 77 in the morning of Feb. 7. The officer tested a window with the tint meter—it was too dark—and ran the driver and passenger’s names. The passenger had a traffic warrant, so officers asked him to step out and checked the car. There was a marijuana cigarette and a container with marijuana residue under the driver’s seat. The driver, a 29-year-old Cleveland man, was charged with possession of marijuana and for the windows. The passenger was advised on his warrant.

Traffic stop, part 2
The police pulled over a speeding car on Interstate 77 shortly before 1 p.m. on Feb. 6. The driver, an 18-year-old Brecksville woman, told police she was speeding because she was late to work. The officer could smell marijuana and began a search. In the driver’s purse, the officer found a grinder and a small bag with marijuana inside. In the glove compartment, there was a pipe with marijuana residue. She was charged with speeding and with possession of drug paraphernalia.
