City Council Approves Appointment of New Police Sergeant
Council also approved resolutions allowing the city to take part in regional programs.

Brecksville City Council approved the appointment of Robert L. Johnson to sergeant during at .
Johnson began with the in 1990, Mayor Jerry N. Hruby said. He’s worked with the SWAT team and is currently a field-training officer.
“He certainly is someone who deserves to be promoted within the department,” Hruby said. He added that he thinks he will do an “outstanding job” as a leader.
In other police and fire news, council also approved a memorandum of understanding that allows Brecksville to take part in the Ohio Region 2 Collapse Search and Rescue team.
Hruby said during the committee meeting that the city enters this agreement each year. Members also approved a resolution allowing the mayor to request reimbursement for police and fire department training, another annual agreement with the county that allows the city to take part in a Homeland Security grant.
The county applies for federal funding for these programs on behalf of communities, Hruby said after the meeting.
