About Brent Kirby: When Brent Kirby is not playing solo or with his band, the Lost Fortunes, he writes tunes for—and fronts—the Jack Fords (2007, 2009 Best Rock Band Cleveland Scene) and plays drums for the Cleveland holiday band, the Ohio City Singers. He is the founder and leader of The New Soft Shoe, a band put together specifically to perform the material of Gram Parsons. Despite being such a busy guy, Brent brings a calm insightfulness and sensitivity to his lyrics that make his music both funny and poignant. The careful listener will often find him or herself chuckling at how closely his lyrics capture the truth of our messy and delightful humanity. During the day, Brent can be found teaching songwriting to kids of all ages in the Cleveland Municipal School District or playing his songs for folks in retirement homes.
