Construction on the New Police Station to Begin in Late 2013, Early 2014

After more than a decade of discussions, plans for Brecksvilleβs new police station are moving forward.Β
The city purchased the final plots of land in 2000, 2009 and 2012, Mayor Jerry N. Hruby said, and voters passed the necessary rezoning back in November.Β
Soon the land across the street from the fire stationβ9020, 9028 and 9034 Brecksville Roadβwill be cleared and leveled, with the remaining house removed, Hruby said. He added that the resident recently moved out.

It will still be awhile before construction gets underwayβHruby said he didnβt expect to see ground broken until late 2013 or early 2014βbut itβs good progress for a project thatβs been in the works since the β90s.
Louis N. Carouse Jr., council member and chair of the cityβs Buildings and Grounds committee, said council still has to reach out to some architectural firms. If this project is like those in the past, council will have a short list of companies share their ideas before selecting one to design the station. Carouse expected this to move forward soon, so the city could get the plans started this year.Β
