Council Honors President Larry J. Potla’s Last Meeting
Potla made sure to thank residents and employees.
Council President Larry J. Potla oversaw his final Tuesday night in , saying it’s been a “privilege and honor” to serve for more than a decade.
Potla , and said he knows he’s leaving the city in good hands. Potla was appointed to fill a vacancy in council in 1996. A few years later, he ran for council and was elected. He began serving in 2000, and became president in 2006.
The mayor and council members took part of Tuesday’s meeting to thank Potla for his leadership, his volunteer work and his friendship.
“You’ve been a wonderful mentor, confidante and friend to me,” said Vice President Greg Skaljac.
Skaljac and others noted Potla’s calm and professional demeanor as one of his leadership strengths. Some of the newer members of council, like Rex Mack and Michael Harwood, also thanked Potla for his support as they were getting started.
Mayor Jerry N. Hruby emphasized how dedicated Potla is to the community, saying he can’t thank him enough for his work at the . Potla helps clean up at the , and he’s been a strong supporter of the .
Potla made sure to thank the residents for their support and to thank the mayor, the department heads and the city employees for their hard work.
“The work and dedication you put in is the reason why our city is the envy of many,” Potla said.
