Creekside: Celebrating 20 Years in Brecksville
Today is the 20th anniversary of the restaurant's opening.

Twenty years ago today, Fast Eddie’s restaurant opened up in Brecksville.
The malt-shop motif didn’t catch on in the community, so the owners soon gave it a makeover, adding a bar and a deck and creating a more upscale atmosphere. That restaurant was known as Eddie’s Creekside from 1993 until 2009. And three years ago, it became .
Creekside will be offering a variety of specials throughout the month in honor of its 20th anniversary. They have a special lager from and an anniversary blend from just for the occasion. They’ve been offering “Old Menu Favorites,” like city chicken and a Bistro Tuna Salad, since the start of the month at “old time” prices.
And don’t miss today’s sweet treat. Customers who stop by will receive a free cupcake in honor of the restaurant’s first day of business. Check the restaurant’s website for all the specials.
Matt and Shirley Harper, the current owners, got involved when the restaurant made the switch from malt shop to fine dining. Eddie Cerino had been involved at the beginning, but has since left the restaurant—just one of many changes the restaurant has seen over the years.
“This business is just like life,” Matt Harper said.
They’ve seen the excitement of engagements and mourned the death of a coworker. They’ve served families in record-breaking numbers for holidays and watched as the Chippewa Creek rushed through the city, covering it in floodwater.
I asked the Harpers and some employees to share the memories that stand out the most to them from the restaurant’s 20 years. I’ll share those on the site tomorrow, but first, I want to hear your memories—good or bad, big or small. Add them in the comments and I might include them in tomorrow’s post!
