Neil Simon's "Gods Favorite"

Brecksville's Old Town Hall will be hosting Brecksville Theater on the Square production of Neil Simon's “God’s Favorite” on three consecutive weekends starting May 31.


The play that is loosely based on the Biblical book of Job is set in a wealthy Long Island household in the 1960s.


Local theater and radio performers Steve Brown and Sally Spitz, of Broadview Heights, who have worked together for more than 20 years, will portray Joe and Rose Benjamin.

The patriarchal, God-fearing tycoon Joe Benjamin and his long-suffering wife is Rose raise their prodigal son, David and their twins, Ben and Sarah. Their maid and butler are Mady and Morris. As in the Biblical book of Job, Joe is tempted by God’s messenger to renounce God, but he stands firm. Other cast members include Jay Hill, Adam Leventhal, Beth Lee, George Morgan III, Kayleigh Joyce and Marc Dusini.


Production dates are May 31 through June 2, June 7 through June 9 and June 14 through 15, with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. at Brecksville's Old Town Hall on Public Square.
