Fraudulent Charges Reported and Drunken Driving Stopped: Brecksville Police Blotter

The following incidents were reported by the from May 17 to 21. The information was compiled from police reports.

Fraud reported
A Brecksville woman stopped in the station on May 21 to report fraudulent charges on her bank card. Her card had been declined a couple of days earlier, and when she called her bank, they told her the card had been cancelled after a few suspicious charges from Houston. The person had charged about $192 at two Kroger stores and about $135 at two Valero gas stations before the card was cancelled. The woman said some of her coworkers at a dentist in Fairlawn had run into similar problems, and police suggested she contact the Fairlawn police, as well.

Operating a vehicle under the influence
Police were called to the 8300 block of Settlers Passage at 8:51 a.m. on May 17. Some pedestrians had stopped a woman on the street who seemed intoxicated—she had been trying to start her already started vehicle. The police could smell alcohol on the 52-year-old Seven Hills woman, and she seemed confused. She did not do well on a field sobriety test and was taken back to the station and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence. Police tried to give her a breath test at the station, but the machine wasn’t working properly. Her blood was drawn and samples were sent out to be tested.
