Frugal Family: Places to Swim in and Around Brecksville
The heart of summer is here and it's a good time to take a swim.

The temperature is rising, and your kids are probably begging you take them swimming.
From pools to small lakes to Lake Erie, there's no shortage of options for swimming in our area.
Before you get to the deals, check out these safety tips from the state's Healthy Ohio website, and always make sure children are supervised around water. You might also want to check yesterday's for some more safety suggestions.

Deal: Residents of Brecksville can buy a prorated membership to the Community Center and have the use of the outdoor, children’s pool area, as well as the indoor pool and use of the entire facility. Rates as of July 1 range from $35 for a single child up to $142.50 for a family membership. Details can be found on the Recreation Department's website.
Good Until: The July 1 membership allows the use of the facility through the end of the year.
2. Ledge Pool
Deal: According to the website for the Cleveland Metroparks, Ledge Pool in Hinckley offers swimming, swim lessons, a picnic area and much more. Daily fees to use the pool are $4.50 for those 12 and older, $3.50 for kids ages 6 through 12, and kids under the age of 5 and individuals over the age of 62 are free. You can purchase a season pass. Individuals who live in Cuyahoga County or Hinckley Township pay $65 and family passes for those residents are $105.
Good Until: Season pass is good through mid-August. The pool is typically open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
3. Wallace Lake
Deal: According to the Cleveland Metroparks website, swimming is free and open to the public at Wallace Lake in Berea. This lake has a small, sandy beach area and a snack stand.
Good Until: Open mid-June through mid-August from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Deal: The Ohio Department of Natural Resources lists Edgewater Park in Cleveland as one of their parks that allows swimming in Lake Erie and has a beach. This park also has a snack stand, restrooms and several picnic areas. It’s free to swim, and water quality information is available on the Ohio Department of Natural Resources website, under the "safety" tab.
Good Until: Swimming is allowed from daybreak until dusk.
Deal: According to the website for the Cleveland Metroparks, Hinckley Lake in the Hinckley Reservation offers free swimming. For swimming conditions information, call 216-635-3383.
Good Until: Swimming is permitted from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. from mid-June through mid-August.
