Garage Sale Interrupted by Gas Leak: Brecksville Police Blotter

Harassing phone calls
A Brecksville resident reached out to police on July 22 after receiving a number of harassing phone calls from someone who claimed to be with the FBI. The man told police that he had called a wrong number earlier in the day before the calls started and apologized when the person called back to tell him so. Minutes after that conversation, the resident started receiving calls from an unknown womanβthe one who claimed to be with the FBIβwho accused him of buying drugs and told him he was being watched. He told her she had the wrong number and hung up. She called six times before the resident went to the police.
Minor accident leads to gas leak
A garage sale in the 8500 block of Wiese Road was interrupted when a customer hit a gas meter in the front yard in the morning of July 19. The driver said she had pulled onto the driveway and was trying to move her car onto the gas when she hit the meter. The collision caused a gas leakβthe police report notes that there was a βhissing sound of gas escapingβ and a strong odor of gas. The road was blocked off and the house was evacuated. The car had to be pushed out of the way so that the gas company could reach the shut-off valve, and gas company arrived shortly after 11 a.m. to make repairs.
