1. TRI-C JAZZFEST: KICKOFF DAY

Why Go: The 32nd annual Jazzfest begins today and goes through May 8. This Mardi Gras Parade is a free event. At 7 p.m., head over to the House of Blues to hear Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. And check out this schedule of performances for the rest of your weekend.

Why Go: Enjoy the artwork of Studio B, as well as the live music, appetizers and wine.

Why Go: It's a series of free art exhibitions presented by the Crooked River Gang, a volunteer group of local artists. This weekend check out The American Landscape. Most of the artwork is available for purchase.

Where/When: Musica, 51 E. Market St., Akron; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday
Why Go: It's back in time for Mother's and Father's Day, and with more vendors than ever. Craft Mart presents this market of handmade arts and crafts from artisans and crafters. Urban Eats will provide the food and Mocha Maiden will provide hot and cold drinks.
Price: Entrance and parking in the Main Library Parking Deck is free.

Why Go: The Brecksville Center for the Arts presents this spring concert. The choruses will perform folk songs accompanied by guitarist Craig Kotnik, as well as show tunes, blues, gospel and spirituals. Handbell soloist Cordetta Valthauser will also perform.
