Students have been sharing memories of Szczurek on Twitter the past few days, and some have been asking when the school would talk about it.
Counselors followed Szczurek’s class schedule today, said school psychologist Shelley Bohrer, letting students know that they were available if they wanted to talk. They also met with students one-on-one and in small groups.
The school wants to respect the family’s wish for privacy, Bohrer said.
Bohrer encouraged parents to discuss Szczurek’s death with their children, noting that “it’s difficult,” but important.
