Holiday Celebration Continues with the Annual Children’s Christmas Play
There will be six shows this weekend.

again this weekend to take part in yet another yearly tradition—the Annual Children’s Christmas Play.
There might be some people in the audience who recognize this year’s play, “The Christmas With a Most Special Delivery.” special events coordinator Kelly McNeill said Mayor Jerry N. Hruby originally wrote the play in 1997 and remade it this year for a new group of children.
There are a number of familiar faces in this year’s tale, like Rudolph and Santa Claus, McNeill said, as well as some lesser-known holiday characters like the magical Christmas tree. The plot involves some mischief after a special delivery goes awry.
The performance is about 40 minutes long, McNeill said, and children can get their photos taken with Santa after the show. Children will also get a free ornament.
Hruby encouraged everyone to attend during Tuesday’s council meeting, noting that the adults will recognize city employees, officials and retirees in the cast. And, he said, the show is “a lot of fun for all.”
