Local Chapter of the Lupus Foundation Raised More Than $70,000 at Recent Event
The money goes toward local programs and national research.

The raised about $76,000 with the on Sept. 10, walk coordinator Leslie Vizcarra said in an email.
Vizcarra said the money would help the foundation during the continuing recession, especially in a time when donations are down. The money goes toward local programs, like new patient education classes, and some goes to the national foundation.
And she said about 920 people participated in the 13th annual walk in the -- about 100 people took part in the first walk.
