Multitasking Momma: The Name of This Column Says It All

The author has been extremely busy this summer, but still found time to enjoy a Brecksville tradition.

This Friday will be July. Are you serious? This summer is flying by!

Work. Weekend work events. Family. Side projects. Errands. Fun with my daughter. Restarting the workout routine. Not cleaning my house, but desperately needing to.

Phew! I have been so busy lately that Momma needs to take some serious time for herself. This “Multitasking Momma” needs to take on one less thing; but, as the name of this column implies, Momma is destined to multitask.

We had a great time at last weekend, and my daughter was able to enjoy it Thursday and Saturday nights. Momma remembered why she’s too old for some of the rides, but Amelia wanted to ride them over and over and over again. Thank goodness for the kid-only rides! My daughter’s dinner Saturday night consisted of a corn dog (bad Momma!) and she thoroughly enjoyed her ice cream from .

One of our local favorites, , had a stand at the event and the Peppermill crew was insanely busy cranking out ribs and burgers. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see a larger presence of local restaurants at Home Days? Although I do enjoy “fair food,” and was drooling over Amelia’s corn dog, I think it would be fantastic to support more local businesses at a local event.

I ran the on Sunday morning and clocked a decent time for a (oh how I’d like to run like my future sister-in-law, who in her group). A group of us actually decided to run from our neighborhood to the starting line, so we had two runs in one that morning.

I am looking forward to a long, three-day weekend for the holiday and luckily don’t have any work obligations. We have a cookout planned with friends, and Amelia and I will make a couple of local produce . I don’t know what all of our plans will be, but I’d love to catch some fireworks since I missed them last weekend.

I have a feeling that, sometime this weekend, I will hear my daughter’s little voice saying, “But Mommy, I want YOU to play house with ME.” Although I desperately need to clean my house, Amelia wants to play house: that will make my busy weekend complete.
