New Roof for Hilton, Treasurer Retiring: School Board Notes
The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Board of Education met Wednesday evening.

- The treasurer/chief financial officer announced her retirement after 11 years—and 13 levy campaigns—with the district. Karen E. Obratil will be working in the district until the end of July. Vice President Mark Jantzen said Obratil’s work over the years has made it possible for administrators and board members to rest easy. “Your integrity here has been fantastic,” he said.
- The board approved a contract with The Brewer-Garrett Company to replace lights and ballasts in buildings across the district. The plan was , but when a rebate from FirstEnergy came back as much less than expected, the company went back to the drawing board and cut costs.
- The board heard a presentation on upcoming permanent improvement plans for the district at the start of the meeting. Two of the biggest projects for the year include roof replacements for and repairs and replacements to the band bleachers and visitor bleachers at the . The board approved contracts allowing architects to start drawing up plans for both.
