Denise Josie’s versatility has made her quite an asset to The Village at Marymount’s Nutrition Services Department. So much so that five months ago she was named to the newly-created position of Customer Service Liaison.
Denise’s ability to tackle any job effectively and efficiently led to her winning The Village at Marymount’s July 2014 Franciscan Spirit Award.
“I’m totally surprised by this award,” said Denise, whose daughters Janiece and Josie work alongside of her in the Nutrition Services Department. “I didn’t expect to win this.”

Denise, a Garfield Heights resident who started at The Village at Marymount in June 2013, said the first thing she does each day is to make sure the residents are well and have what they want when it comes to their food. “I enjoy the residents and I enjoy getting their feedback as to what they want each day. I like to make them happy.”
Denise’s work ethic captured the attention of Madeleine Morris, an STNA on the Memory Care Unit and herself a Franciscan Spirit Award winner in August 2013. Madeleine was one of many nominations Denise received for the award.

“When serving MCU residents, Denise made many trips back and forth to the kitchen to make sure everyone had what they needed,” Madeleine said.
“Denise gets a lot more exposure with our residents because of her role, and she can fill in wherever we need her,” said Andrea Ward, Director of Nutrition Services. “She truly does a great job for us.”
Other nominees for the award include Delderick Osby, Michael Rose, Agnes Szymanski, and Ed Upesleja.
