Parker Hannifin Awards $500,000 Grant to The Village at Marymount

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio The Village at Marymount is pleased to announce a $500,000 grant from The Parker Hannifin Foundation to be used for repurposing and renovating its Clare Hall wing within Villa St. Joseph. The grant, which will be received during the next four years, will help make it possible for The Village at Marymount to re-create Clare Hall into space dedicated to providing palliative and hospice care for residents.

Mr. Donald E. Washkewicz, Chairman, CEO and President of Parker Hannifin was introduced to The Village at Marymount through its inaugural Celebration of Life Gala in 2010 and a good friend who brought him for a tour. Mr. Washkewicz was so impressed with the facility he helped The Village at Marymount to receive a $250,000 grant to expand its physical therapy department. The Parker Hannifin Foundation Therapy and WelIness Center opened in August 2012.

“Over the past year, the professionals at the Villa provided excellent care for my mother when her condition required the need for rehabilitation and therapy, and provided an extremely supportive environment for my family – we couldn’t ask for anything more at a most difficult time,” Mr. Washkewicz expressed to both administrators and caregivers.

Mr. Washkewicz further stated, “The renovation of Clare Hall will enable this wonderful team of caregivers and administrators to humanely touch the lives of a much broader cross-section of this community, which is greatly needed.”

Sister Mary Alice Jarosz, The Village at Marymount’s Director of Mission Integration said, “This latest gift shows how strongly The Parker Hannifin Foundation believes in us and our Mission to provide compassionate, competent care to our residents and their families at all stages of their lives.”

Formerly a 28-bed infirmary for members of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis, Clare Hall was opened in 1972. Since then Marymount Health Care Systems renovated Clare Hall and obtained licensure for Medicare and Medicaid beds.

“With the help of this major grant from The Parker Hannifin Foundation, Clare Hall’s space can now be transformed to provide the highest quality of care and the best environment for a dedicated palliative and hospice care unit,” said Jeff Myers, The Village at Marymount’s Chief Operating Officer.

The administration at The Village at Marymount is hopeful that the proceeds from this year’s fourth annual Celebration of Life Gala, together with other grants, donations and fund raising efforts, will enable the project to get under way within the coming year.
