Power Outage Closed Hilton Elementary Wednesday

was closed today because of a power outage.

Larry Tomec, director of business services for the Brecksville-Broadview Heights schools, said a custodian discovered that the power was out early this morning. The district notified the electric company, which responded around 9:15 a.m. After about an hour, power was restored to the building.

Tomec said they suspect that an animal got into the fuse, but the company couldn’t tell for sure. The company switched the school’s power source to a second line and will be back on Thursday to check on the main line before switching it back.

School will be back in session on Thursday, coordinator of community relations Cathy Harbinak said in an email.
