St. Michael School Kindergarten Music Club Composed at Encouragement of Student
St. Michael School Begins New Music Club for Kindergarten

Cabrini Calabretta, a kindergarten student at St. Michael School, told her mom, Jennifer, she would love to start a singing club at school. The idea was introduced to Kindergarten Teacher Mrs. Sue DiGeronimo in an email requesting the procedure on how to go about starting a music club. Mrs. DiGeronimo responded with great enthusiasm. She loved the idea of a student coming up with an idea and acting on it.
Her response was simple: there needed to be interest and there needed to be a moderator. She followed up by saying she would happily be the faculty moderator. The response was positive and the St. Michael School Kindergarten Music Club was born. Mrs. DiGeronimo shared the idea with Kindergarten Aide Ms. Mary Jo Brown and she, too, was inspired to be a part of the club.
In fact, Miss Brown used to have a Sign Language Club at St. Vincent de Paul and she offered to instruct the Music Club on sign language to accompany their songs. “Our goal is to bring Jesus to others through song. We have 10 joyful singers who come with such enthusiasm. It truly is a joy and a blessing to work with them,” said Mrs. DiGeronimo.

The Kindergarten Music Club practices weekly on Wednesday afternoons. They led the singing at their weekly Advent Prayer Services, as well as sang Silent Night at their Christmas program. They plan on continuing to lead the Lenten prayer services and hope to sing a special song to Mary at one of their Friday masses in May.
