State of the City and Police and Fire Appointments: 5 Things to Know This Week
It's going to be a busy week in Brecksville.

- Today is Presidents Day, and there are a number of offices closed. Here’s a quick look at some of them.
- Mayor Jerry N. Hruby will spend some time this week talking about the future of Brecksville. The casual “Conversation with the Mayor” event will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Human Services Center. The event is designed to give residents a way to hear the news directly from the mayor and get their questions answered.
- And the formal State of the City address will take place Wednesday evening at the Human Services Center. More details are available on the Chamber of Commerce's website.
- City Council will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. According to the agenda, council members will appoint a new police patrolman and a new volunteer firefighter/paramedic.
- The Cuyahoga Valley Republicans will meet on Thursday. Members will discuss a variety of issues during the meeting, including whether to formally endorse a candidate for the presidential primary in March.
