Students Practice Reading Skills at the Library’s “Book Buddies” Program

The program ended for the summer with a pizza party on Wednesday.

Wednesday was the last day of this summer’s four-week “Book Buddies” program at the .

The program brings together “Little Buddies,” who are entering grades kindergarten through second and “Big Buddies,” who are in fifth grade or above, said Debra Brass, the library's children's supervisor. The older students help the younger ones, not by taking over, but by guiding them in their reading or alternating sentences or pages.

“The big kids really do a good job,” Brass said.
