The Oaks of Brecksville Settling Into the City
The skilled nursing facility focuses on residents, community.
has only been for a few months, but it’s already making its place in the city.
They’ve joined the . During the holidays, carolers came in from the city to sing to residents, and the care facility took residents out to see nearby decorations. The comes in regularly, said Director of Admissions Jena Dickman, and the facility works with the department.
The more they can get involved, the better, said Director of Marketing Jessica Butt. Part of why the Saber Healthcare Group chose Brecksville to open a new skilled nursing and care facility was because of its active, “tight-knit community,” Butt said.
Even the facility’s decorations were inspired by the city. The halls are painted in warm, earthy tones and labeled with the names of common Brecksville trees, rather than institutional numbers.
“We took a lot from the Brecksville culture,” Dickman said.
The facility tries to be customer-oriented. It offers evening hours for its outpatient therapy, and keeps its halls quiet for residents and visitors—there are no overhead pages here. The private and semi-private rooms all include their own bathrooms, and the residents can control the temperature inside. Each resident gets his or her own TV, too.
And the facility encourages families to be involved. It helps people heal, Butt said.
There are living room areas on both floors, and families are welcome to join their loved ones for meals. (The Oaks has its own professional chef, and meals are served fine-dining style.)
“We really like to make it interactive with the residents,” Dickman said.
Thomas Voldan said he’s been satisfied with his experience at the Oaks of Brecksville. He chose the Oaks because his family was nearby, but he’s been most impressed with the friendly staff and with the cleanliness of the facility. And the therapists make sure you get what you need, he said.
“It’s a pretty amazing facility,” Voldan said earlier this month.
The Oaks of Brecksville has room for 80 patients. The first floor focuses on short-term physical, speech and occupational rehabilitation, and the second floor is for long-term care.
