Update: Brecksville’s Online Vehicle Auction

The city raised more than $38,000 by selling old vehicles.

From April 13 to April 20, Brecksville held an online auction of old city vehicles on GovDeals.com in an attempt to find new uses for old vehicles and to raise extra funds for the city.

And it went well, Director of Purchasing Becki Burlingham said in a recent email. The winning bids for all 11 vehicles equaled $41,091.02, she said. After the city pays administrative fees to GovDeals.com, Brecksville will have about $38,000 in total earnings to add to its general fund, Burlingham said. 

The website allows local governments to sell items online, rather than in a traditional auction. Brecksville held its first online auction in the fall, Burlingham said after the . And on April 13, the city held its first online vehicle auction for surplus vehicles like pick-up trucks.

The next online auction will include other city surplus items, such as furniture and exercise equipment, Burlingham said in an email. That auction will likely happen sometime in May.
