Update: Local Swimmers and Volunteers Raise Money for the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland

The Brecksville Community Center raised more than $4,000, according to a press release from the association.

More than $160,000 was raised for the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland’s 2011 Swim for Diabetes event, according to a press release from the association. 

The annual event took place April 8, 9 and 10 at swimming pools around the region. More than 1,000 swimmers and volunteers participated, according to the release. Donations weren’t due until the beginning of May.

The took part on April 10, raising about $4,600 for the fundraiser, according to the press release.

Before the fundraiser, special events manager for the association Lori Izeman that the money raised is used to support diabetes education and other programs.
