Update on All-Day Kindergarten

The governor yesterday signed the bill allowing districts to continue to charge tuition for full-day programs.

Gov. John Kasich yesterday signed Ohio House Bill 30, which removes some of the education mandates on school districts across the state, according to a press release from the governor’s office.

This is important for the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District because it lifts the mandate requiring districts to offer free, all-day kindergarten. Brecksville-Broadview Heights offers a free half-day program with an optional tuition-based, all-day program. Without this bill, that option would no longer be possible, and the cost would have been passed on to the district.
