Ups and Downs
One local mom's battle with a wicked roller coaster of a virus that was determined to throw her daughter's health for a loop.

No grand adventures these past two weeks. Just two trips to Kids in the Sun, lots of time resting and recuperating on the couch, constant nose wiping and many nights climbing into mom and dad’s bed, not to mention a debate about visiting the emergency room late one night.
Something hit our house last week, but it wasn’t the flu. My daughter and I both got a flu shot, so it couldn’t have been the flu. For me, it was a sinus infection; my husband was sick with bronchitis. No big deal for either of us. My daughter, on the other hand, had this wicked virus that ran like a roller coaster through her system: one day good, the next day bad. And, on those bad days, I’ve never seen her that sick.
We fought with a really high fever and debated whether or not she needed to head out to the emergency room. I cannot tell you how much I love her pediatrician’s office. They quickly called me back late one night, paged the doctor on call just for a second opinion and he reassured me that she could stay at home with the high fever as long as she was still alert, not acting like a wet dishrag.

A sleepless night for Mom and Dad? Without a doubt.
This virus really threw us for a loop! She was not only hit with a virus, but ended up with a double ear infection and a five-day round of antibiotics. She appears to finally be on the mend, and we’ve stayed inside for the past four days. Lots of TV and movies, apple juice and medicine, blankets and snuggles. She’s been napping and sleeping through the night (in her own bed… yay!).
Now that we are germ-free, we are heading to in Strongsville in a couple of weeks for a cooking class. My daughter loves to "cook," so I thought this would be fun.
Stay healthy and I’ll see you again in a couple of weeks.
