Whiz Kids: Students in the Arts Contest Winners

For this week’s Whiz Kids, we’re highlighting the participants and winners of the contest.

On April 21, served as the location for a contest among students in grades kindergarten through 12th. Students won in categories of music, writing, photography and both two- and three-dimensional art. Trish Oswald, contest director, hoped the contest would encourage participation in students’ creativity.

Age/Grade: Kindergarten through 12th

School: All Brecksville-Broadview Heights schools

Accomplishment: Placing in one of five artistic categories

Key to Awesomeness: Each student expressed their creativity in individual works of art. Writing judge and Brecksville librarian, Debra Brass, said she had no problem choosing winners. “I was impressed with the creativity of the kids,” she said.

Everyone who participated in the contest is a Whiz Kid this week, but with almost 100 students placing, we're just listing the students whose work took first place on Thursday:
