1. McKinley-Sponsored Creek Cleanup is Saturday (whbc.com) — Canton volunteers are invited Saturday morning to help clean trash from the West Branch of Nimishillen Creek as it flows from Stadium Park to Waterworks Park, with check-in at the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum. Organizers ask participants to pre-register, wear old clothes, be ready to get wet, and then enjoy lunch afterward as part of International Coastal Cleanup Day.
2. Gameday Bay map gives peek at football-themed water park (kentucky.com) — Canton residents are getting a first real look at Gameday Bay, the football-themed indoor water park planned at Hall of Fame Village along Fulton Road NW near I-77. A newly released map highlights features like Touchdown Tides wave pool, Victory Lap lazy river, a swim-up bar, kids' play zones, and party spaces, all slated to open in spring 2027.
3. Flux Steel Works to create 200 jobs at former ATI plant in Louisville (thesuburbanite.com) — A massive $1.2 billion investment will revive Louisville's former ATI plant, bringing more than 200 permanent manufacturing jobs and over 1,000 construction jobs to Stark County, just minutes from Canton. Flux Steel Works plans to make specialized electrical steel crucial for the power grid, aiming to reduce U.S. reliance on imports and start commercial production by 2029.
4. Les Dames d'Escoffier pitch competition 2026: KneadED wins (cleveland.com) — A Canton favorite, Walkie Talkie Espresso and Coffee, earned second place and $2,000 in a regional women's food-business pitch competition, spotlighting its community-focused mission. The shop, housed in a renovated century-old service station, was recognized for reinvesting locally and creating an inclusive gathering space, while a Shaker Heights bakery cooperative took the top prize.
