Dvorak, Spidalieri say 'no' to further tax relief (chagrinvalleytoday.com) β Geauga County commissioners rejected an additional $400,000 in tax suppression, a move that would have trimmed the average bill by only about $5 a year, arguing future needs like renovating Chardon's old courthouse justify keeping the funds. One commissioner pushed for giving even small savings back to taxpayers, while others stressed voter-approved levies and looming multimillionβdollar building upgrades in Chardon.

Dvorak defends $750K allocation to the fairgrounds (chagrinvalleytoday.com) β Geauga County commissioners have approved $750,000 for a new multipurpose building at the county fairgrounds, a yearβround hub used by many Chardon-area groups and residents. One Chardon-based League of Women Voters observer pressed commissioners on how state funds factor into the project, while Commissioner Jim Dvorak argued the investment benefits taxpayers through expanded community, agricultural, and emergency-response uses.

Geauga County takes action over sediment runoff at Bainbridge home construction site (cleveland.com) β From the Geauga County seat in Chardon, commissioners moved to crack down on sediment runoff from a Bainbridge Township home construction site that's sending dirt into nearby streams. After months of failed fixes and multiple violation notices, the case may head to the county prosecutor if the builder doesn't stabilize and seed the property soon.
