Cincinnati leaders to create first downtown neighborhood plan in 40 years (wcpo.com) — City leaders are launching Cincinnati's first comprehensive downtown neighborhood plan in 40 years, shaping future development in the Central Business District, the Banks, the Riverfront and parts of Over-the-Rhine. Over the next 14–15 months, consultants and city staff will gather public input on everything from streets and parks to housing and office space, with a draft plan expected in spring 2027.
   

2. City races to track 5,000 vacant properties after teen's fatal shooting (fox19.com) — Cincinnati officials are racing to catalog roughly 5,000 vacant properties after a 14-year-old boy was fatally shot outside an empty building in East Price Hill. A new vacant building registry now requires owners, whether in Cincinnati or abroad, to register long-empty homes or face fines, as inspectors step up checks and barricade unsafe structures to curb crime and blight.
   

3. Arrest made after vans used to transport students from school damaged in fire (wlwt.com) — More than 50 Cincinnati students lost regular rides to tutoring and youth programs after two vans for the nonprofit Inner City Youth Opportunities were badly damaged in a suspected arson fire. The Cincinnati Fire Department says a 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged, while the group now plans a fundraiser to replace the vehicles and restore free transportation.
   

4. Cincinnati assistant principal charged with sexual battery of student (thecincinnatiexchange.com) — Cincinnati parents should know that an assistant principal at Aiken New Tech High School has been charged with felony sexual battery involving a 16-year-old student, based on a complaint supported by surveillance video and statements. Cincinnati Public Schools reported the allegation to police, removed him from duty, and says he'll have no student contact while investigations continue and the case moves to a grand jury.
   

5. Special robot at Christ Hospital allows surgeon to remove hard to reach tumor (wlwt.com) — A Cincinnati grandfather avoided chemotherapy after a Christ Hospital surgeon used a cutting-edge "single port" robot to remove a hard-to-reach tongue tumor. The only specialist in the region using this technology, Dr. Esther Cheng says it offers a clearer view and less invasive access, while the patient urges others in Cincinnati to pay attention to unusual health changes.
