Cincinnati police initiate road closures around UC campus after shootings (wcpo.com) — Cincinnati police have begun nightly closing Calhoun and McMillan Streets between Vine and Clifton to boost safety after recent shootings near the University of Cincinnati campus. The closures, running through early morning hours this busy football weekend, are drawing criticism from nearby business owners but still allow residents with permits and local employees to access the area.
   

2. What to know about traffic, bridge closures for Riverfest's biggest fireworks show yet (wlwt.com) — If you're heading downtown Cincinnati for Sunday's massive 50th Riverfest fireworks, expect major bridge closures and plan which side of the river and parking spot you want before leaving home. Gates on the Cincinnati side open at 3 p.m., with several bridges, including Taylor Southgate and Roebling, shutting down to vehicles and pedestrians at set times Sunday evening.
   

3. Unusual trend in state testing results sparks investigation into 52 Ohio schools (fox19.com) — Several Greater Cincinnati schools, including Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy and other local charters, are under state review after unusual patterns appeared in standardized test results. The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is investigating 52 schools statewide, while local leaders say they'll cooperate fully and maintain confidence in their testing procedures and student achievement data.
   

4. Markwayne Mullin in Cincinnati Speaks to 287g Program (dailysignal.com) — A visit by Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin to Cincinnati brought a strong defense of the 287g immigration-enforcement partnership used by nearby Warren County, while contrasting Trump and Biden border policies. Local and federal officials discussed how the program lets deputies act with immigration authority, and Mullin sharply criticized sanctuary-style policies in neighboring Hamilton County and beyond.
