• Road closures near UC return this weekend amid crackdown on crime, unruly behavior (wlwt.com) — Roads around the University of Cincinnati's main campus will again be barricaded this weekend as police continue a short-term crackdown on crime near Calhoun and McMillan streets. Business owners say last weekend's closures cost them heavily, while students are split over whether the traffic disruption improves safety. Police say this will be the final weekend of closures, following UC's home football game.
• Bengals players visit Cincinnati fire station ahead of 9/11 anniversary (fox19.com) — Bengals players and mascot Who Dey spent their usual off-day visiting Cincinnati Fire Station 20 in Northside, honoring first responders ahead of the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Players tried on heavy gear, learned about rescue tools, and reflected on the sacrifices firefighters make for the community every day.
• Greater Cincinnati Foundation boosts 28 nonprofits via Healthy People grants (moversmakers.org) — Greater Cincinnati Foundation has awarded more than $816,000 to 28 nonprofits, including several based in Cincinnati, to support health, housing stability, and behavioral health across the region. Grants back groups like Cincinnati Parks Foundation, Legal Aid Society of Cincinnati, and Strategies to End Homelessness. The funding is part of a long-term plan to invest $1 billion locally over the next decade.
