1. One of Cincinnati's historic parks is set to get even bigger thanks to community effort (local12.com) — Mt. Storm Park in Clifton is set to expand as the Cincinnati Parks Foundation buys a 27-acre hillside next to the historic park, helped by $359,000 raised by neighborhood residents. The land, long used informally for sledding and recreation, could see stream restoration, invasive plant removal, and future hiking trails if a state grant comes through.
2. Cincinnati City Council moves to honor Batsakes hat shop owner (cincinnati.com) — Cincinnati City Council is set to vote on naming the Sixth and Vine intersection "Gus Miller Way" to honor the longtime owner of Batsakes Hat Shop. The tribute comes as the iconic downtown store prepares to close Sept. 30, ending decades of service to generations of local hat buyers.
3. New bridge? Driverless cars? Study to look at how to get to CVG faster (cincinnati.com) — Cincinnati officials and regional planners are launching a $350,000 study to find faster, more reliable ways for local workers to reach CVG, including options like dedicated bus rapid transit, a new West Side bridge, or even driverless taxis. With airport-area jobs projected to surge from 16,000 to as many as 25,000, the study could reshape how Cincinnati residents commute across the river for work.
4. Shake Shack shooting: Suspect could be acquitted in stunning new development (fox19.com) — A key witness has recanted crucial testimony in a fatal shooting at the Shake Shack near the University of Cincinnati, now admitting the victim had a concealed handgun. The change, backed by surveillance video cited in a defense motion, could significantly strengthen the suspect's self-defense claim as the Hamilton County murder trial continues in Common Pleas Court.
5. Senses Fail Add Philadelphia & Brooklyn Dates To 'Still Searching' Anniversary Tour (themosh.net) — Senses Fail is bringing their 20th anniversary 'Still Searching' tour to Cincinnati's Bogart's on December 9, giving local fans a chance to hear the album live. The fall run features support from Koyo, Initiate, and later One Step Closer on added Brooklyn and Philadelphia dates, with Cincinnati landing one of the key Midwest stops.
