Today's riddle: What do you call a paper airplane that can't fly? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Judge adds third day of jury selection for Rodney Hinton trial after no selections made (local12.com) — Jury selection in the high-profile trial of Cincinnati resident Rodney Hinton Jr., accused of killing retired Hamilton County deputy Larry Henderson, is stretching into a third day with no jurors yet seated. The judge still expects to seat a panel Wednesday, take jurors to the crime scene, and begin opening statements Thursday in this insanity-plea case tied to a prior Cincinnati police shooting of Hinton's son.
2. Giant now-closed riverfront chemical plant has a buyer, mayor says (kentucky.com) — A Cincinnati-based firm, CERTA Environmental, has agreed to buy the shuttered 120-acre Ineos Styrolution chemical plant in nearby Addyston, about 13 miles west of downtown Cincinnati. Village leaders hope the sale, expected to close by year's end, will attract a new employer to replace hundreds of thousands in lost tax revenue and revive the long-industrial riverfront site.
3. New dispensary to open in former Frisch's (citybeat.com) — A new Certified Cultivators cannabis dispensary is slated to open next spring in a former Frisch's at 559 State Route 125 in Cherry Grove, expanding access for Greater Cincinnati customers. Founder Zach Weprin, known for starting the Cincinnati sushi chain Fusian, is partnering with Cincinnati-based Warm Construction and plans to preserve the building's Big Boy character while offering a wide range of tested cannabis products.
4. 14-year-old injured after running into closed door at Dent Schoolhouse (wlwt.com) — A 14-year-old visiting the popular Dent Schoolhouse attraction in Green Township was injured after running into a closed staff-only door, cutting his hand and scraping his face before medics treated him. After the boy's mother alleged racial profiling and danger on social media, Green Township police reports and a statement from the attraction emphasized guest safety and an ongoing review of what happened.
5. GCL-Coed teams swap places in new Cincinnati volleyball power rankings (cincinnati.com) — Greater Cincinnati girls volleyball teams are shuffling in the latest power rankings as programs like Fenwick, Ursuline, McNicholas and Kings trade key wins heading into the regular season's final stretch. Several Cincinnati-area schools face tough matchups this week and next, setting up a dramatic finish before postseason play begins.
