Here are the top stories today in Cincinnati:
- A woman who Cincinnati fire officials say was caught on video dousing a North Avondale building with lighter fluid to ignite a fire is under arrest. Cincinnati police and fire officials released a video they say shows Jatoy Mathis, 30, on Aug. 26 in the 3800 block of Reading Road. After nearly two months, Mathis was taken into custody Thursday on two counts of aggravated arson. (WXIX)
- One person was found dead on Anderson Ferry Road on Cincinnati's west side. The unidentified person was found unresponsive around 12:30 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of the winding road. Officials with the Cincinnati Police Department are referring to it as a death investigation, adding that the department's homicide unit is investigating along with the Hamilton County Coroner's Office. - Why are some street lights across Greater Cincinnati turning purple? Sally Thelen, the communications manager at Duke Energy, said the street lights are not supposed to be purple. She explained a manufacturer defect is causing the color change and Duke has been actively working to replace the purple lights in their service areas.(WXIX)
- A group from Cincinnati is being investigated as the possible culprits of an uptick in vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles in parts of southern Montgomery County, northern Warren County, and along the I-75 corridor. (WHIO Radio)
