Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:
- People of all ages from across the tri-state marched in solidarity with over 400 other "March for Our Lives" rallies across the nation this weekend to demand stricter gun control laws. There were also speakers at Cincinnati City Hall making an impassioned plea to end gun violence. The Cincinnati march was organized by Students for Gun Legislation, led by Ethan Nichols. "We are excited that so many people are energized and ready to take to the streets because that is what it is going to take," Nichols told WLWT. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- DJ Matt Bennett, known for his role as Robbie Shapiro on "Victorious," will be coming to Cincinnati to play throwback tunes from Disney and Nickelodeon. Bennett will be coming to Cincinnati's Bogart's on Aug. 19 for an event called iParty with DJ Matt Bennett, where he will play songs from "Hannah Montana," "The Cheetah Girls," "High School Musical" and more. The show is for those 18 and older; general admission tickets are $18. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- Demetrius Lowery, the alleged murderer of 28-year-old Dondre Kelsor, is due in court at 10:00 a.m. this morning for his trial. Prosecutors say Lowery, age 40, had turned himself into Cincinnati Police for Kelsor's murder, which occurred during the protests of early June 2020 in Over-the-Rhine. Lowery is on trial for murder and improper use of a firearm, and has also been charged with carrying a firearm under disability, according to court documents. (FOX 19)
