- The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden's PNC Festival of Lights was voted Best Zoo Lights in USA Today's 2021 Readers' Choice poll. This marked the fourth consecutive year that the Cincinnati Zoo took the top spot in the 10Best poll. Festival of Lights kicked off in the middle of Nov. and runs through Jan. 9. (WHIO Radio)
- A 17-year-old was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting in the West End on Saturday. Police says at around 9 p.m. on Baymiller Street, two people were shooting at each other when the boy was hit. No suspect information has been released. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- A female-owned distillery, the first and only in Ohio, celebrated its grand opening in Over-the-Rhine on Saturday. The Knox Joseph Distillery owner, Michele Hobbs, says that it is also the largest independently owned space in OTR. From my notebook:
- Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is currently incredibly full. This high number of patients, along with increased illness in our community means that the system is under stress. (Facebook)
- Join the Cincinnati Zoo for Happy Zoo Year (pres by Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Honda Dealers) for a family-friendly way to celebrate! Enjoy PNC Festival of Lights and then an early countdown. (Instagram)
- Cincinnati Ballet company artist Jacqueline Damico Amador takes viewers behind the scenes of The Nutcracker at Music Hall. (Instagram)
- Did you know: King penguins can dive to depths of more than 1,180 feet (about as deep as the Eiffel Tower is tall!). The ocean gets darker the deeper they go, so they have excellent night vision to account for this. (Facebook)
